Lublin in the footsteps of Eastern Christianity

Lublin in the footsteps of Eastern Christianity

It is a walk around Lublin that allows you to discover both known and forgotten traces left by Poles, Greeks, Ukrainians, Russians and other followers of Eastern Churches over 700 years of Lublin’s history.

John Paul II once said that Christianity breathes with two lungs: eastern and western. This was and is also in Lublin, which, as a meeting place of cultures, has been the home of Christians of various denominations and rites since the dawn of its history. During the walk, we will get to know places related to the history and the present of the Orthodox and Greek Catholic Church and places where the cultural influences of these religious traditions are visible. We will start the tour at the Cathedral of the Transfiguration, and then we will head towards the city centre to discover both known and forgotten traces left by Poles, Greeks, Ukrainians, Russians and other followers of Eastern Churches in the 700 years of Lublin’s history.

* Participants cover the costs of any admission tickets themselves.

Przewodnik Inspiracji Marek Duda

I am a graduate of history studies at UMCS, a licensed Beskid guide, a tour leader and a Lublin guide. I work at the State Museum at Majdanek on a daily basis. I was born in Lublin and I have lived in this city all my life, therefore showing its charms gives me great joy and satisfaction.
I am particularly interested in the history of Lublin under the German occupation, the fate of Lublin Jews and the history of Christian denominations.
